Early Childhood Education and Care

January 23-24, 2012: The Norwegian Ministry of Education and the OECD co-hosted a high-level Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) roundtable in Oslo on January 23-24 to focus attention on the economic and social importance of high-quality ECEC, highlight key policies and practices that can enhance ECEC investment, and share perspectives and foster dialogue with stakeholders on how to address implementation challenges.  Ambassador Kornbluh highlighted how investment in high-quality early childhood education and care can help close the gender gap.  Department of Education Senior Advisor on Early Learning and the OECD Network on Early Childhood Education and Care Chair Jacqueline Jones helped launch the OECD publication “Starting Strong III,” which provides a policy toolbox for developing high-quality ECEC programs.
