On September 20th, the U.S. Mission to the OECD celebrated the American citizens working at the OECD. Currently, just over 300 Americans work at the multilateral organization. Ambassador Markell praised their talent and reiterated the important role that the OECD has to play in strengthening democratic values and advancing economic policy that benefit American citizens.
“When President Biden asked me to serve, he told me he believes the OECD is so valuable at this moment because it has never been more important that democracies and market-oriented economic systems prove that we can deliver for our citizens. You all have a key role in making exactly that happen”, declared Ambassador Markell.
In addition, he encouraged more Americans to “bring their talents to inform and enrich the work of the organization – to the benefit of the United States and to the benefit of all of our peer countries.”
